Boryung announced on the 2nd that it is recruiting participants for the youth space science competition '2025 Humans In Space Youth (HIS Youth).' Recruitment will continue until 6 p.m. on June 20. This competition has been jointly held by Boryung and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity since 2024. This year, it will be divided into elementary and secondary school divisions. The elementary division will involve drawing artworks that introduce 'the medicines required for humans to explore space,' while the secondary division will require participants to write research proposals presenting 'the expected problems and solutions for humanity's long-term stay in space.' Excellent teams in the secondary division will be provided opportunities to visit U.S. space-related corporations.
The National Research Foundation of Korea announced that it held the '2025 ASTRA DAY' event at the Korea Press Center on April 30th. This event was organized to spread a culture of challenging research and development and share the operational status of boundary-challenging R&D projects with the research community. About 60 people attended, including 23 principal investigators currently conducting projects.
The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) announced that a research team led by Professor Jang Young-jae from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering has won an Outstanding Innovation Award at the INFORMS Analytics Conference through collaborative research with the KAIST startup 'Daim Research.' Professor Jang and the Daim Research joint research team presented autonomous manufacturing utilizing digital twins and reinforcement learning, securing second place. Their industrial feasibility and excellence in digital twin and AI-based autonomous operation technology were highly regarded.
