On May 5, Children's Day, and during the holiday, various science experiences, performances, and exhibition programs for children and families will take place at major science centers nationwide.
The National Gwacheon Science Museum will operate a 'Science Experience Week for Future Generations' starting from the 5th. On Children's Day, a 'Science Experience Fair' will be held at the Science Square, featuring 19 types of free reservation programs, including metal detector making, and 7 types of on-site self-directed programs such as giant Jenga and spinning top games. From 7 p.m., a 'Dome Concert – Journey to Mars' in the style of a science magic show and a 'Special Observation Meeting' for adults will also be held by reservation.
On the 3rd, 4th, and 6th, creative experience programs themed around bows, gunpowder, and turtle ships will be operated six times a day at the Korea Science and Civilization Hall. The experiential program 'Survival Blood' associated with the special exhibition 'Future Animals: Life Beyond Mass Extinction' will also take place on the 4th and 6th.
At the National Children's Science Museum in Jongno, Seoul, from the 3rd to the 6th, a science cultural event 'Ssg Ssg Color Arcade' will be held for the whole family to enjoy. Various experiences, crafting, and performance programs themed around art and science will take place throughout the science museum.
In the first-floor lobby and Dream Tree Hill, constant experience activities such as 'Color Riddle in the Dark,' 'Let's Graffiti in the Science Museum,' and 'Self-Directed Science Experiment Zone' will be held, along with the 'Amazing Magical Photo Zone.' In the second-floor rest area, programs such as making 'Color Changing Cups,' 'Kaleidoscopes,' and 'Color Telescopes' will be held, with up to 60 participants per session conducted six times a day. The science theater will hold magic shows, bubble shows, and sand art laser shows for children aged 3 years and older, twice daily for a total of eight times, which can be reserved online.
The National Gwangju Science Museum will offer free admission to the permanent exhibition hall from the 3rd to the 6th, along with performances such as puppet shows, magic shows, and balloon art. Face painting and caricature experiences will be available for free on-site, and a family instant photo event will also take place on the 5th and 6th.
The National Busan Science Museum will hold a science experience event 'Ttak Ttak Family Challenge' at the outdoor plaza from the 3rd to the 6th. This experiential event allows families to perform various missions themed around science, showcasing three popular experience programs from the past decade at the Busan Science Museum. In addition to water rocket launches and string art events, a balloon art show and an offline special event commemorating the 10th anniversary will also be conducted.
The National Central Science Museum in Daejeon will conduct an event 'Yuseong Children's Festival with Wood and Fun' at the central square of the science museum in collaboration with Yuseong District on the 3rd. A variety of programs will be offered, including robot coding, metal detector experience, molar doll making, wood tray crafting, and tarot, along with board games, air baseball, and fishing activities.
