Galileo Galilei, an Italian philosopher, physicist, and astronomer, is known as the first person in human history to observe Saturn's rings in 1610. At the time, although Galileo discovered the rings, he did not know exactly what they were and referred to them as Saturn's "ears."

However, in 1612, Saturn's ears suddenly disappeared. Galileo did not know the reason, but it was later revealed that from Earth, Saturn's rings appeared too thin, making them seem to have vanished. This phenomenon repeats approximately every 15 years.
