Secretary-General Jo passed the 42nd civil service exam in 1999 and entered public service. From 2014, Jo served as the head of the Radiation Safety Division and the Safety Policy Division before most recently holding the position of Director of the Safety Policy Bureau at the Nuclear Safety And Security Commission. Jo was promoted to Secretary-General and has now taken on the role of Commissioner.

The Nuclear Safety And Security Commission is an organization that deliberates and decides on matters prescribed by law related to nuclear safety, with a term of office of 3 years for commissioners. The commission consists of a total of 9 members, including the Chairperson, two Commissioners, and seven non-standing commissioners.
