The Korean Intellectual Property Office announced on the 22nd that it will embark on a nationwide tour titled '60th Anniversary of Invention Day Bread Vehicle' in collaboration with Seongsimdang to raise awareness of the importance of invention.
This tour will take place as a promotional event leading up to the ceremony commemorating the 60th anniversary of Invention Day, scheduled for May 19 at COEX Magok in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
The first tour will start at 10 a.m. on the 30th in front of the Korean Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul. The second tour will take place at 10 a.m. on May 7 at Art Square, 28 Dongseong-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu, and the third will visit the area around the back gate of Chonnam National University in Buk-gu, Gwangju, at 10 a.m. on May 13, concluding with the final tour at 8 a.m. on May 14 at the Government Complex Daejeon in Seo-gu, Daejeon.
The Bread Vehicle tour event will distribute Seongsimdang bread while conveying stories about intellectual property related to bread. Seongsimdang actively protects the manufacturing techniques and brand of its popular products as intellectual property. This serves as a case demonstrating that intellectual property is effectively utilized not only in cutting-edge technology fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors but also in areas closely related to everyday life, like bread.
Visitors to the Bread Vehicle will receive a brochure containing stories about Seongsimdang bread and 'Invention Day.' Through a QR code in the brochure, they can participate in a photo verification event on-site, and there will also be additional quizzes and prize draw events.
Spokesperson Jeong Dae-sun said, “On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Invention Day, we want to share with the public the process by which creative ideas in everyday life, like those at Seongsimdang, lead to 'premium patents.' We hope this tour will make the importance and value of intellectual property more relatable to the public.”
