The artificial satellite AI total solution corporation TelePIX noted that its satellite information-based raw material cargo volume analysis service 'MetalSCOPE' was introduced as a case study for Earth observation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the 10th. This is the first time domestic corporations' technology has been highlighted as an Earth observation application case based on satellites at the WEF.
The World Economic Forum is an international non-profit organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, where major corporations, governments, academia, and civil society gather to seek solutions to global issues. Since January of this year, it has been introducing innovative cases that contribute to solving social or environmental problems using Earth observation data as part of a sustainability project utilizing satellite technology.
TelePIX's MetalSCOPE introduced this time is a solution that allows for real-time tracking of global raw material supply chain flows. By combining various ultra-high-resolution satellite images with actual raw material status data, it performs precise analysis of surface raw materials based on results learned by artificial intelligence (AI), enabling identification of types and conditions. This allows for the detection and prediction of raw material cargo volumes at major ports and logistics hubs worldwide, facilitating proactive responses and policy formulation regarding supply chain bottlenecks or surges in demand.
The World Economic Forum evaluated this technology as 'an innovative technology that utilizes optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite data to track changes in the types and volumes of raw materials in ports, warehouses, and logistics hubs that are difficult to access with high frequency, providing real-time market insights.'
Last year, TelePIX became the first Korean space corporation to be selected as one of the 100 Technology Pioneers by the World Economic Forum and attended the Innovators Community meeting held in December in New York, USA, as a member of the WEF Innovators Community.
Jo Seong-ik, CEO of TelePIX, said, 'I am pleased that the technological prowess and innovation of MetalSCOPE have been officially recognized on the international stage,' adding, 'We will continue to expand the scope of satellite data utilization and develop solutions for a sustainable future.'
