The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency will hold the 8th Healthy Society Forum on the theme of "Research on Sex-Based Diseases" at the Central Health and Medical Administration Town in Osong this morning. During this event, discussions will center around individualized treatment methods through the "sex-based medicine" approach, which tailors disease diagnosis and treatment according to gender.
Kim Na-young, director of the Sex-Based Medicine Research Institute at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, will present on "Trends in Sex-Based Medicine Research in Our Country and Strategies for Both Genders" at the forum. Lim Joong-yeon, head of the Fluid Mechanics Department at the National Institute of Health, will introduce the "Research and Development Project Plan for Sex-Based Medicine." Additionally, a panel discussion will be held on research of sex-based medicine diseases. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency has been hosting the Healthy Society Forum since 2023 to prepare for public health threats.
Jeong Yeong-mi, director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, noted that "Research on sex-based medicine is the first step toward realizing personalized healthcare" and stated, "We will prepare guidelines for tailored prevention, diagnosis, and treatment."
