The path for the domestic launch of CKD BiO's botulinum toxin product has been opened.
Chong Kun Dang Holdings and CKD BiO noted that their wrinkle improvement botulinum toxin "TM-Bus 100 units" has received product approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on the 1st. The approved indication is "improvement of moderate or severe glabellar lines."
Botulinum toxin is a protein extracted from the food poisoning bacteria Clostridium botulinum, which causes muscle paralysis, reduces muscle size, and smooths wrinkles. It is well known under the brand name "Botox" by AbbVie in the United States.
CKD BiO applied for product approval to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on May 24 last year. However, in September of that year, the Ministry requested a review of the product name. The initially applied product name was "Time-Bus 100 units."
The company explained, "TM-Bus uses non-animal raw materials and non-animal additives in the manufacturing process to minimize the risk of blood-derived pathogen infection" and said, "This can provide a wide range of choices for consumers sensitive to animal ingredients and vegan patients and consumers." The company plans to proceed with overseas approval procedures along with the domestic launch.
