Could the Taeyang rise twice at the same time? A few days ago, this scene unfolded in Les Escoumins, Quebec, Canada. At the moment the Taeyang was rising, it was partially obscured by the moon, creating a partial solar eclipse. This footage captured the rare "double sunrise" live, showing the reflection on the St. Lawrence River.
At first, two bright lights appeared beyond the clouds, soon followed by something that looked like a bright horn. This was part of the Taeyang not covered by the moon. Before long, the entire obscured Taeyang revealed itself above the horizon. This "broken sunrise" phenomenon lasted only about 2 minutes, but the actual partial solar eclipse continued for a much longer duration. The moon orbits the Earth once a month, but its tilted orbit means it does not block the Taeyang every time.
