The conflict between the medical community and the government over the expansion of medical school enrollment has prolonged, causing national public hospitals to fall into a deficit.

According to data submitted by 10 national public hospitals to Kim Seon-min, a member of the National Assembly from the Justice and Innovation Party, on the 18th, the total deficit of these hospitals last year was 563.971 billion won, approximately double compared to the previous year's deficit of 287.043 billion won.

Seoul National University Hospital recorded the largest loss with a deficit of 108.95 billion won over the year. It was the only national university hospital in the previous year to show a profit of 2.151 billion won, but it returned to a deficit as the conflict with the government began.

The main branch of Seoul National University Hospital had a deficit of 110.650 billion won last year, while Bundang Seoul National University Hospital recorded a profit of 1.654 billion won.

Kyungpook National University Hospital followed with a deficit of 103.975 billion won. Chonnam National University Hospital had 67.747 billion won, Pusan National University Hospital 65.642 billion won, Jeonbuk National University Hospital 49.09 billion won, Chungbuk National University Hospital 41.863 billion won, Chungnam National University Hospital 33.496 billion won, Kangwon National University Hospital 31.146 billion won, and Gyeongsang National University Hospital 30.574 billion won.
