Kolmar Korea has completed its second local production facility in Pennsylvania, USA, marking the full-scale entry into the North American cosmetics market.
Yoon Sang-hyun, vice chairman of Kolmar Group, noted at the groundbreaking ceremony held on the 16th (local time) that "the second plant in the U.S. is not just a factory, but the starting point of a global collaboration and innovation ecosystem," and stated, "We will grow it into the largest cosmetics manufacturing hub in North America."
The new plant can produce 120 million units annually, mainly focusing on basic skincare and sun care products. Combined with the existing first plant, the total annual production capacity in the U.S. reaches 300 million units, and with the Canadian subsidiary, the total production capacity in North America is about 470 million units. This is the largest scale in the North American ODM industry.
In particular, it has obtained U.S. Food and Drug Administration Over-the-Counter (FDA OTC) certification necessary for sunscreen, establishing the foundation to immediately respond to the rapidly increasing demand for K-sunscreen locally. The system from the Sejong plant in Korea was implanted, automating 80% of the entire process to enhance efficiency and safety.
Kolmar Korea emphasized that this factory will not just be a localization effort, but a collaboration base with global brands aiming for "Made in USA," providing a strategic option for K-beauty brands looking to enter the U.S. market without tariff burdens.
