Samyang Foods has begun constructing its first overseas production base.
On the 3rd, Samyang Foods held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Samyang Foods (Zhejiang) Jiaxing Factory' on Mazhabang Road in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, China. Approximately 100 people attended the ceremony, including Kim Dong-chan, representative of Samyang Foods, Jang Seok-hoon, representative of Samyang Round Square, Kim Young-jun, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai, and other employees.
Samyang Foods will invest a total of 201.4 billion won in the construction of the Jiaxing Factory. The factory will cover an area of 55,043 square meters, with a total floor area of 58,378 square meters, and will be three stories high, featuring six production lines.
Samyang Foods will implement a quality management system based on international standards at the Jiaxing Factory. In particular, the plan includes rigorous compliance with China’s 'Food Safety Law,' establishing a transparent and systematic quality management system throughout the entire process from raw materials to shipment.
When the Jiaxing Factory is completed in January 2027, it is expected to produce up to 840 million packets of Buldak Bokkeumyeon annually. All products manufactured at the Jiaxing Factory will be supplied to the domestic market in China. A representative of Samyang Foods noted, 'Once the factory is completed, the annual production of Buldak Bokkeumyeon at the five factories, both domestically and internationally, will increase to 3.52 billion packets.'
Earlier, Samyang Foods decided to build its first overseas factory in this region, considering that China accounts for approximately 25% of its total export volume, the high recognition of the Buldak brand within China, and the excellent accessibility of Jiaxing, which is home to Samyang Foods’ Chinese sales subsidiary, 'Samyang Foods Shanghai Co., Ltd.'
