CU will hold a large-scale discount event for over 400 types of alcoholic beverages throughout July to coincide with the start of the summer vacation season.
This event was planned to proactively respond to the surge in demand for alcoholic beverages that occurs in July, a month filled with outdoor activities such as travel, camping, and various activities. As consumer preferences for alcoholic beverages have become increasingly diversified, the event features a broad selection of items including beer, wine, highball, and makgeolli.
CU has been continuing special liquor events for three consecutive months. This is because consumer responses to discount events at convenience stores have been immediate amid ongoing price increases.
During the beer discount period held by CU in May, the average sales of beer were more than 1.5 times higher compared to non-event periods, and this month, the overall sales of whiskey have increased by 20.6% compared to last year due to the whiskey discount event, indicating a sensitive purchasing trend in response to promotions.
The July liquor event will be held on the largest scale. For beer, CU has prepared three events: '8 cans for 18,000 won' and '3 large cans for 9,000 won,' as well as a beer bundle discount event.
Purchasing through the 8 can event is about 30% cheaper compared to the previous prices of 4 cans for 12,000 won and 13,000 won.
The large 3 can event features five popular large-sized beers including CAS Corporation, Stella, and Budweiser, and the bundle beers are sold at a discount of up to 54% compared to the previous price for a total of 27 types. The highball, which is currently the most popular alcoholic beverage in convenience stores, will also have a discount event.
CU's 'Fresh Fruit Highball' series, which is leading the convenience store RTD highball trend, can be purchased at 3,500 won per can when buying 6 cans. Four types of Jim Beam highballs can be found for 13,500 won, which is 44% off the regular price when purchased as a bundle.
Makgeolli will also be available at discounts of up to 3,100 won along with CU's premium product 'Takol', 'Haejang Fresh Makgeolli', and 'Slow Town', among others. For 12 types including 'Gapyeong Pine Nut Makgeolli' and 'KOOKSOONDANG BREWERY Fresh Makgeolli', a discount of up to 400 won per bottle will be applied when purchasing two or more bottles.
Wine will feature a uniform price event with discounts of up to 48% on over 50 types, including 'Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvignon,' 'Ancien Temps Cabernet Sauvignon,' and 'Montes Classic Cabernet Sauvignon,' helping customers save on their shopping.
