Shinsegae Duty Free announced on the 20th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Yoo Youngkuk Art and Culture Foundation for collaboration on branded content, ahead of an exhibition honoring the artistic world of Yoo Youngkuk, a master of Korean abstract art.
This agreement aims to combine the cultural and artistic content creation capabilities of both institutions to jointly present high-quality content that harmonizes artistic value and public interest.
Shinsegae Duty Free plans to collaborate with the foundation to create branded content that modernly interprets the artistic philosophy of Yoo Youngkuk, and as the largest operator of duty-free stores at Incheon Airport, it will participate in the '2025 Incheon Airport KIAF Special Exhibition' to be held in August at Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport.
Hosted by the Incheon International Airport Corporation, this exhibition will be held from Aug. 22 to Sept. 17 at the Central Millennium Hall in the general area of Terminal 1 at Incheon Airport. Major works by Yoo Youngkuk and archival materials illuminating the artist's life will be exhibited together, deeply conveying the artist's sculptural world that seeks a balance between nature and abstraction.
The collaborative exhibition with the Yoo Youngkuk Art and Culture Foundation is part of Shinsegae Duty Free's art branding project 'K-Reflection' and will consist of content highlighting the identity and artistry of K-culture. Special content will also be showcased that brings together Shinsegae Duty Free's representative character 'Paul and Bani' with the artistic world of Yoo Youngkuk.
A representative from Shinsegae Duty Free noted, "This meaningful collaboration brings together Shinsegae Duty Free's direction to expand the duty-free store into a cultural and artistic platform and the artistic world of Yoo Youngkuk." They added, "Through this project, we hope to convey the essence of Korean abstract art and artistic inspiration to global travelers."
