Kang Seung-kyoo, a member of the People Power Party and a member of the Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee of the National Assembly, said on the 11th, “I will help ensure that the flow of the K Wave (Korean Wave) extends to revitalizing rural and local communities.”
At the ’2025 ChosunBiz Consumer and Retail Forum' held at the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Josun Hotel in Seoul, Kang stated, “Today, the K Wave (Korean Wave) holds such high status globally that it can be referred to as the K Initiative (Korean Leadership).”
Kang noted, “When I entered the 18th National Assembly around 2008, BoA found success in Japan, causing the popularity of K-pop to soar. Interest in K-dramas also began to rise.” He added, “The K Wave has been ongoing since then and continues to this day.”
He expressed, “I hope the popularity of K-food in the flow of the K Wave leads to revitalization of rural and local communities.” He mentioned, “I am contemplating solutions for that.” Kang’s constituency includes Hongseong-gun and Yesan-gun in South Chungcheong Province. Kang added, “I believe the word brand itself is value-added.” He continued, “I will help Korean distribution brands continue to lead the K Wave and K Initiative in the future.”
