BGF Retail, which operates the convenience store CU, announced on the 8th that it will discount over 230 popular ice cream varieties, including Häagen-Dazs and Larasweet.

According to CU, the average temperature in Seoul from the 1st to the 4th of this month has risen by about 8 degrees compared to the previous month, resulting in a 53.8% increase in ice cream sales. In response, CU is carrying out half-price discounts on ice cream and a 1+1 (one plus one) event.

First, the authentic premium ice cream brand Häagen-Dazs will offer a 40% discount on all products, including cups, bars, sandwiches, and pints, when purchasing two or more until the end of this month. Additionally, scanning the membership QR code on its app 'Pocket CU' and paying with T-Money, BC Card, NH Nonghyup Card, or Kakao Pay will yield an extra 10% discount, allowing purchases at half price.

Moreover, Larasweet, which is popular for its low-sugar ice cream, has over 40 types that will be offered at a flat 40% discount or through a 1+1 discount event. As of last month, the cumulative sales of Larasweet reached 25 million units. Targeting the low-sugar ice cream trend, CU will also hold a 1+1 promotion on four varieties of value-for-money low-sugar ice cream (sugar-free Zero Wit, Low Wit brand bars, monaka, and pencil-type ice creams).

In addition, over 50 types of bar ice cream products such as Melona and Jaws Bar will be 50% off when buying five or more. More than 200 varieties of cone ice cream, including World Cone and Burabo, as well as cup ice cream such as patbingsu and sandwich ice cream like Bbangttoa, will be eligible for a 1+1 giveaway benefit.

Han Jeong-joo, the merchandise planner (MD) of the snack foods team at BGF Retail, noted, "Considering the forecast that this summer will be hotter than last year, we prepared the ice cream event early," and added, "We will continue to do our best so that customers can purchase the products they want easily and at reasonable prices."
