Starbucks Korea announced on the 8th that it has installed a "slow mail box" at the Jeju Sehwa drive-thru store. This mail box was donated by the Jeju Regional Post Office and is the first of its kind to be installed in a Starbucks store in Korea.
Starbucks Korea plans to offer customers a unique experience by allowing them to place postcards made from upcycled milk cartons into this mail box, which will be sent out one year later. The upcycled milk carton postcards are made with 30% recycled paper sourced from 58 Starbucks locations in the Daejeon area.
The Jeju Sehwa drive-thru store, which opened in November 2023, is a community store that donates a portion of its revenue to the local community. Starbucks Korea is accumulating 300 won for each item sold at the Jeju Sehwa drive-thru store to fund environmental initiatives such as resource upcycling campaigns.
Kim Suk-jin, the manager of the Starbucks Jeju Sehwa drive-thru store, said, "I am glad that we can give back to customers and the local community through postcards made from recycled milk cartons, utilizing the environmental fund accumulated from a portion of the store's revenue."
