Emart announced on the 5th that it has appointed Choi Jin-il, senior managing director in charge of Emart's MD innovation, as the new CEO. The former CEO, Song Man-jun, resigned for health reasons.

The new CEO, Choi, born in 1974, is the youngest among the representatives of the group's subsidiaries. He has a bachelor's degree in fisheries from Gyeongsang National University and a master's degree in business administration from Chung-Ang University. He is considered a 'product expert,' having joined Shinsegae's Emart sector in 2000 and served as the head of the planning/operations team for No Brand BM and as the person in charge of freshness in the grocery division.

An Emart24 representative noted, "The new CEO is expected to enhance product competitiveness unique to Emart24, increase revenue, and improve brand value."
