On the 29th, Starbucks Korea announced the opening of its special store, 'Starbucks Gwangjang Market,' in Gwangjang Market, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The Gwangjang Market store is designed with the concept of 'a coffee shop that extracts time,' set against the backdrop of the century-old Gwangjang Market. It will operate with a capacity of over 250 seats, including rooftop and ground floors 1 and 2. Each floor features different interior designs and menu selections, highlighting the concept that connects tradition with modernity.
The store will also showcase local specialty items available only at this location, such as 'Golden Mandarin Hop Fizzio' and 'Siru Honey Cake,' along with 'Starbucks Honey Hotteok Latte,' which is modeled after the traditional market hotteok. Particularly, dessert items inspired by traditional fabric culture and a hanbok Bearista merchandise will also be launched.
This store will also operate as the 10th community store. A fund of 300 won will be accumulated from each sale to support the activities of Gwangjang Market merchants. The day before, Starbucks signed a mutual growth agreement with the Mutual Growth Committee and the Gwangjang Market Merchants Association.
Sohn Jung-hyun, CEO of Starbucks, said, 'Through this Gwangjang Market store, which is both a community store and a special store, I hope Gwangjang Market becomes more revitalized and that this store becomes a place for mutual growth with the merchants here.' He added, 'We will continue to present various programs that promote mutual growth with the local community even after the store opening.'
