On the 29th, Homeplus announced that it has completed the agreement to adjust rental fees and contract terms for 41 out of 68 leased stores.
Previously, in order to prevent the expiration of the right to terminate the contract as the deadline for the final response had arrived, Homeplus notified the termination of contracts for 17 stores. It also plans to notify the termination of contracts for an additional 10 stores, for which negotiations are still ongoing, after obtaining approval from the court.
However, Homeplus continues to negotiate with the landlords of the 27 stores for which it has notified or is in the process of notifying contract termination. A Homeplus representative stated, "We expect positive results as we are narrowing the differences with a significant number of landlords."
Homeplus plans to ensure the employment of all staff at the affected stores, even if it ultimately fails to reach an agreement with some landlords. It intends to apply the "employment stability support system" to these store employees, reassigning them to nearby stores and providing incentive payments to help them quickly adjust to their new workplaces.
