LOTTE Corporation, LOTTE Holdings, and LOTTE World announced on the 27th that they have signed a business agreement with Songpa District Office, Jens, and Green Future for the water quality improvement of Seokchon Lake in 2025. According to the agreement, LOTTE will be responsible for raising funds and providing on-site support for the water quality improvement project, while the Songpa District Office will handle administrative support.

The water quality improvement company Jens will deploy a water purification vessel on Seokchon Lake to conduct purification operations twice a week. This method reduces underwater pollutants using photocatalysts that trigger chemical reactions to light. Green Future, which is overseeing this project, will carry out overall water quality management and inspection tasks.

LOTTE has been conducting the water quality improvement project for Seokchon Lake since August 2021 to enhance its ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) management. As a result, the visibility, which was only 0.6 meters deep in 2021, has now become clearer to a maximum of over 2 meters. Last year, it received first-grade evaluations in most items of the water quality environmental standards.

LOTTE Corporation has held an aquathlon competition at Seokchon Lake every summer since 2022. This is a duathlon event in which participants swim two laps of Seokchon Lake and then climb to the 123rd floor of the LOTTE World Tower, the highest in the nation. Over 2,000 participants have taken part over the past three years. This year's competition will be held on July 6.

Jang Jae-hoon, CEO of LOTTE Corporation, noted, "To keep Seokchon Lake clean, consistent efforts are needed, not one-off actions," adding, "LOTTE will continue to practice ESG management in the future."
