Homeplus announced on the 22nd that it held a meeting between management and the labor union leadership at its headquarters in Gangseo District, Seoul, on the morning of the 21st to discuss the successful rehabilitation process.
According to the company, two executives, including Kim Kwang-il, vice chairman of MBK Partners and co-CEO of Homeplus, participated along with three other executives from management, while four leaders from the Homeplus Mart Union and the General Union represented the labor side, making a total of seven participants.
The management shared the progress of the rehabilitation process, noting that the most important factor for successfully concluding the rehabilitation process early is the active cooperation of both labor and management, who are the parties and main stakeholders in the rehabilitation, and sought the union's cooperation.
Additionally, it conveyed that it prioritizes job security during the rehabilitation process and that there will be no artificial restructuring.
Furthermore, the management explained that improving revenue is essential to build a sustainable business structure for the success of the rehabilitation. However, it emphasized that at this time, rehabilitation is the top priority, and in order to normalize the company and protect employees' jobs, it is necessary to approach all possibilities.
Homeplus also stated that it would consult with the union on important matters in the future. A Homeplus representative said, "Since the start of the rehabilitation process, we have been repaying small business transaction debts first, which has restored trust with our partners and, now two months later, we are rapidly regaining stability in all aspects," adding, "We will do our utmost to successfully conclude the rehabilitation process within the timeframe and quickly achieve normalization."
