Semiconductor equipment company HANMI Semiconductor will terminate its group meal contract with OURHOME early.
According to industry sources on the 16th, OURHOME plans to end the group meal contract signed with HANMI Semiconductor in June. Initially, HANMI Semiconductor had entered into a group meal contract with OURHOME until the end of this year, but it conveyed its intention to terminate the contract next month. HANMI Semiconductor has reportedly selected Shinsegae Food, a subsidiary of Shinsegae Group, as the preferred negotiation partner and is currently in final negotiations.
This decision comes just one day after Hanwha Hotels and Resorts, led by Hanwha Group’s third son, Kim Dong-sun, announced the completion of the acquisition process for OURHOME. Industry interpretations suggest that HANMI Semiconductor's decision to end the meal contract was influenced by conflicts with HANMI Semiconductor, led by Kim. One of the major clients to whom HANMI Semiconductor supplies equipment, SK hynix, approved Hanwha Semitek’s high bandwidth memory (HBM) TC bonder equipment, which is said to have sparked the conflict.
The day before, Hanwha Hotels and Resorts announced that it had completed the payment for the transaction to acquire shares of OURHOME and finalized the contract. Through this contract, Hanwha secured 58.62% of the equity in OURHOME, making OURHOME an official affiliate of Hanwha.
Founded in 2000, OURHOME was separated and established from LG Distribution (now GS Retail) by the late Koo Ja-hak. Starting as a food supply business in 1984, it expanded its operations into group meal services, dining out, and distribution, growing to become the second-largest company in the meal service industry.
