The new head, Gregory Yep, earned a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Johns Hopkins University in the U.S. and has over 30 years of experience as a global food expert, having worked with major food and beverage corporations such as McCormick and PepsiCo, as well as the research and development (R&D) center of IFF in the U.S.

CJ hired him in October 2023, and since then he has served as the head of the food research institute.

The company believes that the appointment of the new head will accelerate the scaling of global strategic products (GSP), expansion into new overseas territories, and the discovery of future new businesses. Moreover, as the head of the food business unit, he is expected to drive robust execution of the future growth strategy.

A representative from CJ CheilJedang noted, "With a global R&D expert leading the food business unit, this will serve as an opportunity to enhance product capabilities through strengthened R&D."
