Donald Trump Jr., the son of U.S. President Donald Trump, visited Korea at the invitation of Chung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group, and departed after a short 1-day, 2-night schedule.
According to the business community on the 1st, Trump Jr. departed for the United States via Incheon International Airport on a private jet after midnight.
Trump Jr., who entered through the Gimpo Business Aviation Center in Seoul around 6:20 p.m. on the 29th, continued to meet with business figures starting from the morning of the previous day (April 30).
The first meeting reportedly included Kim Dong-kwan, vice chairman of Hanwha Group, Kim Dong-won, president of Hanwha Life, and Kim Dong-seon, vice president of Hanwha Galleria and Hotel & Resort, known as the three brothers of Hanwha Group. They are said to have discussed collaboration plans in defense, energy, shipbuilding, and semiconductor sectors at the Chosun Palace Seoul Gangnam, where Trump Jr. was staying.
In the IT sector, Lee Hae-jin, the founder and chairman of Naver, met with Trump Jr. According to Naver, the two discussed AI (artificial intelligence), tech, and global expansion. In the financial sector, Yang Jong-hee, chairman of KB Financial Group, was the only one to participate in the meeting.
In the retail sector, Lee Jae-hyun, chairman of CJ Group, had a closed-door meeting with Trump Jr. Shin Dong-bin, chairman of LOTTE Group, and Shin Yu-yeol, the third-generation owner of LOTTE Corporation, who had been on a business trip to Southeast Asia, also returned to meet with Trump Jr.
Additionally, it is reported that he met with Heo Yong-soo, president of GS Energy; Seo Jung-jin, chairman of Celltrion; Cho Won-tae, chairman of Korean Air; Gu Ja-eun, chairman of LS; and Mun Joo-hyun, chairman of MDM Group.
