CJ ONSTYLE announced on the 29th that it has invested 3 billion won in the Korean beauty brand "Vinau" to acquire its existing shares. The strategy is to nurture Vinau as a leading company in K-beauty based on expertise in fostering small to medium-sized beauty brands and the results of direct investment in brands.

Founded in 2018, Vinau surpassed 100 billion won in revenue just five years after its establishment, leveraging its skincare brand "Numbers In" and makeup brand "Pyu." Last year, it recorded revenue of 266.4 billion won, more than double that of the previous year. Operating profit surged 3.1 times year-on-year to 75 billion won, while the operating profit margin stood at 28.2%.

Vinau has expanded into major countries worldwide, including the United States, Japan, and Taiwan. This year, its revenue target is set at 450 billion won, with plans to raise the current overseas proportion, which stands at one-third, to more than half. Vinau selected Samsung Securities as its underwriter last September and is preparing for an initial public offering next year.

CJ ONSTYLE plans to actively support the global expansion of K-beauty brands such as Vinau based on the competitive edge of its one-platform strategy, which includes mobile live commerce and TV live shows. Earlier, CJ ONSTYLE collaborated with Amazon Global Selling Korea to provide comprehensive support in sales and marketing for the successful entry of its beauty brands into Amazon since September of last year. Additionally, it will serve as the channel to first showcase new products from Vinau through joint planning and development.

The investment in Vinau is explained as being significantly influenced by the successful investment experience with the beauty tech corporation "APR." Previously, as part of its initiative to nurture small to medium-sized beauty brands, CJ ONSTYLE invested 2 billion won in APR, which operates the home beauty device brand "MediCube," on June 20, 2023. That same year, MediCube experienced a sales growth of over 470% solely through CJ ONSTYLE, becoming the top brand in home beauty devices.

A CJ ONSTYLE official noted, "Vinau is gaining attention as a billion-won K-beauty candidate following APR," adding, "Through support such as joint product planning and the expansion of mobile live commerce channels, we aim to develop it into 'the second APR' in both domestic and international markets."
