JD.com announced on the 24th that JD Korea will open its own logistics centers in Incheon and Icheon and officially begin delivery services. JD Korea is the Korean subsidiary of JD Logistics, the logistics company under China's largest e-commerce corporation, JD.com.
JD is China's largest retail corporation, ranked 47th on Fortune's Global 500 list. It delivers more than 90% of its orders within 24 hours. Its subsidiary, JD Logistics, operates over 100 warehouses in more than 19 countries worldwide. It is implementing "international delivery within 2 to 3 days" in key countries such as the United States, Europe, Japan, and Korea, or in some regions, same-day delivery.
The newly opened Icheon center is a logistics center dedicated to pet commerce corporations, equipped with the latest automated facilities such as automatic packaging machines and wrapping machines. Additionally, due to the characteristics of pet food, it operates a unit storage system tailored to products where expiration date management is crucial.
JD's logistics center is equipped with artificial intelligence-based space optimization capabilities that automatically relocate popular products to high-turnover locations and quickly adjust loading structures based on real-time demand forecasting data. This makes it possible to reach customers in Seoul and some metropolitan areas in as little as 12 hours.
The Incheon logistics center provides integrated supply chain logistics services as a dedicated warehouse for the 3PL (third-party logistics) of American global consumer goods brands and for the exports of domestic beauty corporations.
A JD Korea official noted, "The expectations of customers regarding fast delivery in the Korean e-commerce market are high, with the flexibility and precision of logistics operations serving as key competitive advantages," adding that "we will make a substantial contribution to the growth of domestic brands and customer satisfaction based on JD's automation technology and global logistics operation know-how."
