Dongsuh Foods projected that its premium capsule coffee brand ‘KANU BARISTA’ will surpass cumulative sales of 100 billion won this year, it noted on the 24th. Previously, in February 2023, Dongsuh Foods launched KANU BARISTA to allow consumers to enjoy the best coffee at home or in the office.
Currently, the domestic capsule coffee market is gradually expanding due to the home cafe trend. In particular, it has grown to a size of about 400 billion won, driven by advantages such as convenience and high cost-performance.
KANU BARISTA is a product that embodies Dongsuh Foods' 50 years of coffee manufacturing expertise and know-how. It contains 9.5 grams of coffee beans, which is 1.7 times more than existing espresso capsules. The types are divided into light roast, medium roast, and dark roast according to roasting intensity. In addition, it offers a total of 13 types of dedicated capsules, including decaf and single origin.
In October last year, Dongsuh Foods also launched new products ‘KANU ETERNAL MOUNTAIN’ and ‘KANU SERENITY MOON DECAF.’ KANU ETERNAL MOUNTAIN is characterized by a rich chocolate flavor created by mixing dark roasted beans. KANU SERENITY MOON DECAF, which mixes Ethiopian and Colombian beans, allows for the unique acidity of green apple to be experienced.
According to Dongsuh Foods, the KANU BARISTA machine employs the patented technology ‘Triangle Tamping,’ which enables consistent extraction at all times. This helps maintain the flavor and quality of the coffee uniformly. In particular, it extracts at a golden yield of 18-22%, referred to as ‘golden essence,’ providing an ideal taste. Users can select the type of coffee and amount of water with a single touch, and there is also an ice-specific button for added convenience.
