Shinsegae Food announced on the 23rd that it received the Minister's Award at the 19th Korea Packaging Conference for its food absorbent pad made from natural pulp materials, the first of its kind in the country. The Korea Packaging Conference is an event hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Packaging Technology Center to select excellent cases that contribute to the development of the packaging industry.

This award recognizes the eco-friendliness and practicality of the 'natural pulp absorbent pad' jointly developed by Shinsegae Food and the paper specialist Murim. The pad is characterized by replacing traditional plastic material pads used in packaging fresh food such as seafood and meat with natural pulp, making it easy to decompose naturally after disposal.

The product is designed to have high absorbency and durability, ensuring it does not tear easily even when wet. Shinsegae Food is currently reviewing the application of the pad for some product packaging and plans to expand its usage in the future.

A Shinsegae Food official noted, "The natural pulp absorbent pad received high praise for ensuring environmental sustainability, safety, and product quality, which led to the award. We plan to continue our efforts to apply sustainable technology to various products in the future."
