Donald Trump Jr., the son of U.S. President Donald Trump, will visit South Korea next week to meet with local business leaders.
According to the business community on the 23rd, Trump Jr. will visit South Korea for a 2-night, 3-day schedule starting on the 28th. It will be his first visit since President Trump's inauguration.
Trump Jr.'s visit to South Korea is said to be at the invitation of Chung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group.
Trump Jr. is expected to meet with business leaders, including the heads of the top 10 conglomerates in South Korea. However, there are no plans for meetings with political figures.
Although the Trump administration has suspended the imposition of a 25% mutual tariff on Korea for 90 days, uncertainty in trade persists, leading to increasing anxiety among export companies and related organizations.
A Shinsegae Group official noted, “There was a request from the business community for a bridge to communicate with the Trump administration, and Chairman Chung, who has a close relationship with Trump Jr., fulfilled that role.”
Chairman Chung is known to have a special relationship with Trump Jr., having visited Trump, then president-elect, at his Mar-a-Lago resort in December of last year. Chairman Chung also attended President Trump's inauguration in January.
