Dongwon Group announced on the 16th that honorary chairman Kim Jae-cheol has published a management essay titled 'How to Ride the Waves of Life.'

Honorary chairman Kim is a first-generation industrialist who decided to found the business in 1969 and started as a trainee navigator on a deep-sea fishing vessel, building Dongwon Group and Korea Investment Holdings.

He began his professional life as a trainee navigator on Korea's first deep-sea fishing vessel, the Jeonhamho, at the age of 23 in 1958. Later, at the age of 35 in 1969, he founded Dongwon Industries as the world's top deep-sea vessel captain, leveraging his skills and the credit he had built up over the years. He started the company with a capital of 10 million won and two second-hand deep-sea fishing vessels acquired through in-kind loans, growing it into Korea's largest deep-sea fishing company.

In addition, he expanded the business into comprehensive food, packaging, logistics, and finance. Even after stepping back from management, he continues to invest efforts in nurturing talent.

The book contains anecdotes from honorary chairman Kim's childhood, crises experienced during his corporate management, and business strategies that brought him success. It also addresses the bold challenges of young Kim Jae-cheol towards the sea, his reading habits that he maintained even during his life at sea, competitive instincts shown in mergers and acquisitions, his growth history, and leadership.

A representative from Dongwon Group noted, 'Honorary chairman Kim wrote this book to advise young people as a significant elder of this era.'
