Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 16th that it will hold an exhibition showcasing the visual beauty of Hangul in collaboration with the master of Hangul design, artist Ahn Sang-soo, at the Shinsegae Gallery Cheongdam in the basement level 1 of the Bundershop located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The 'Ahn Sang-soo Solo Exhibition: Wing Beyond, Bewitched Holy Liri' will run until June 21.

Ahn is the creator of what is known as the 'Ahn Sang-soo Type.' He has pioneered the expansion of visually designing characters and types, known as 'typography,' into the realm of art, promoting the beauty of Hangul to the world.

Notable works include the altered piece 'Pattern' themed around the writer Lee Sang, and the 'Hangul Goblin,' which reinterprets the traditional Korean goblin by combining the consonants 'ㅎ' and 'ㅇ' into a human form with a modern sensibility.

At the Case Study on the first floor of Bundershop, various art goods (souvenirs) related to the exhibition will also be sold, allowing visitors to continue experiencing the lingering effect of the exhibition in their daily lives after viewing the artworks.

Last year, the number of foreign visitors to Bundershop Cheongdam increased by 40% compared to the previous year, while the number of membership subscribers rose by 34%.

A representative from Shinsegae Gallery noted, "Through the exhibition of artist Ahn Sang-soo, which embodies the visual artistry of Hangul, we expect Shinsegae to captivate not only domestic audiences but also global customers who have a keen interest in Korean culture and lifestyle," and added, "Shinsegae will continue to deliver artistic inspiration to more customers in their daily lives through the most differentiated exhibitions."
