Baedal Minjok has fully implemented paid packaging orders as of the 14th.

Existing store owners using Baemin services must also pay a packaging order brokerage fee of 6.8% (excluding tax) starting this day.

As a result, the dissatisfaction of some store owners, who have complained about the burden of delivery expense, is also increasing.

Baemin announced last July that it would dramatically raise the delivery brokerage fee from 6.8% to 9.8%, also implementing a paid packaging order service.

However, it has been noted that until March 2025, new store owners will receive a 50% reduction in the packaging brokerage fee, while existing store owners will not be charged a packaging fee.

In response to the monetization of Baemin's packaging orders, some business owners canceled their packaging services. In a few days, numerous posts stating 'canceled Baemin packaging service' appeared in online cafes for self-employed individuals, with some restaurant owners starting to accept packaging orders through Naver instead.

Baemin also faced recent controversy as it prevented store owners from using the term 'commission' in the app's guidance.

Instead of charging existing store owners a brokerage fee for packaging orders, Baemin has decided to invest about 30 billion won annually in marketing promotions to provide discounts to customers and support store owners.

A representative from Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, said, 'Since there is no delivery fee for packaging orders, it would be much more profitable for store owners to increase the proportion of packaging compared to delivery orders.' Currently, most orders are delivery orders, and the proportion of packaging orders remains low at about 5%.
