The agricultural corporation Ju-ro's 'Alley Makgeolli Yesan Apple (9 degrees)' won the grand award in the Korean rice wine, unfiltered makgeolli, and traditional liquor category at the 2025 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards.
The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is the representative liquor competition in South Korea that celebrates its 12th year this year. It has been held annually since 2014 by ChosunBiz with the goal of 'discovering and widely promoting good domestic liquor while supporting the establishment of a healthy drinking culture.'
This year's event featured 236 companies presenting a total of 1,008 brands. It is the largest scale among domestic competitions dealing with general liquor. Of these, 431 brands received the Daesang.
'Alley Makgeolli Yesan Apple (9 degrees)' is a premium unfiltered makgeolli made using rice from Yesan, South Chungcheong Province, and fresh apple juice. It does not contain any artificial sweeteners, synthetic flavors, or concentrates. Containing 100% pressed apple juice, it boasts a subtle apple fragrance and rich body from the very first sip.
Ju-ro representative Park Yu-deok said, 'It has now been one year since the launch of Alley Makgeolli Yesan Apple, and I am very honored and grateful to achieve this award.' He added, 'We will continue our research and development to provide high-quality products and further enhance the development of traditional liquors using local agricultural products.'
