The agricultural company Jisiyul Co., Ltd.'s "Hwajeonilchwi 12" won the grand award in the Korean rice wine category at the 2025 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards.
The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is the representative liquor evaluation event of Korea, now in its 12th year. It has been held annually since 2014 by ChosunBiz with the aim of "discovering and widely promoting good domestic alcohol and supporting a healthy liquor culture."
This year, 236 companies submitted a total of 1,008 brands. It is the largest evaluation event for comprehensive liquors in the country. Among them, 431 brands received the grand award.
"Hwajeonilchwi" (花前一醉), brewed at Jisiyul Brewery in Dr. Park Village, Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, is a traditional liquor brand meaning "Even you are a flower. All is flower, together we will be intoxicated in front of flowers."
"Hwajeonilchwi 12" is a Korean rice wine made by using 100% domestically produced rice and traditional nuruk, fermented in an earthenware jar for 100 days and aged for more than two months. It embodies the intrinsic taste and aroma of traditional liquor without any additives. Its delicate sweetness and refreshing acidity feature a fruity aroma that pairs well with foods such as jeon and tofu kimchi, as well as gijeongtteok.
