A survey result has shown that the average monthly payment per user of delivery apps in the country is close to 100,000 won.
According to retail analysis services Wiseapp and Retail on the 9th, a sample survey of payments made by Koreans aged 20 and over using credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfers found that last month, 23.51 million people made payments through delivery apps such as Baedal Minjok, Coupang Eats, Yogiyo, and Thangyeo. It is estimated that each person paid an average of 97,000 won over 3.7 transactions.
The number of delivery app users was highest among those in their 40s, while the number of payers and the payment amounts were highest among those in their 30s. The average monthly payment per person in their 30s exceeded 100,000 won. The age group with the highest number of transactions per person was the 20s (4.4 times).
In addition, it was found that 27.01 million people, which is 53% of smartphone owners, are using delivery apps. Baedal Minjok has the highest number of users at 22.38 million, while Coupang Eats closely follows with 11 million users. The number of Coupang Eats users jumped from 6.45 million in March of last year to over 10 million, an increase of nearly 5 million in just one year. Yogiyo's user base decreased to 5.04 million, while Thangyeo increased to 1.53 million.
The estimated payment amount for delivery apps last month was 2.28 trillion won, the highest since March 2022 (2.315 trillion won) during the DAEYU (pandemic).
