Gumi-hyun, CEO of OURHOME, issued a statement and apologized for the death of an employee who suffered a fatal accident at the business site in Yongin on the 4th.

On the 9th, Gumi-hyun, chairman of OURHOME, said, “I am deeply saddened as the CEO that such an incident should never have occurred,” adding, “I extend my sincere condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family, and I also convey my apologies and sympathies to the colleagues at the scene.”

He further emphasized, “We are mobilizing all capabilities to support the bereaved family and are actively cooperating with relevant agencies to investigate the exact cause of the accident,” stating that “we will diligently engage in all investigations and do our best to take necessary measures, and we will establish and thoroughly implement measures to prevent such an accident from happening again.”

The accident occurred at the OURHOME fish cake manufacturing plant located in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, around 11 a.m. on the 4th. A male employee in his 30s, Mr. A, became trapped in a cooling machine for fish cakes and was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest, but he died early that morning.

In relation to this, the Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to investigate whether OURHOME violated the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

According to the Serious Accident Punishment Act, it is deemed a ‘serious industrial accident’ if one or more fatalities occur, two or more injuries requiring treatment for over six months happen due to the same accident, or three or more people suffer occupational diseases, such as acute poisoning, due to the same harmful factor within one year.
