Musinsa announced on the 8th that it will officially launch its re-commerce service 'Musinsa Used' in the third quarter, which allows transactions of fashion second-hand products.
Musinsa plans to introduce buying and selling functions within the Musinsa application (app) so that members can experience reliable and convenient second-hand transactions, rather than on a separate platform. To this end, Musinsa applied for a relevant trademark in February and added 'retail and brokerage of second-hand goods' to its business objectives after a shareholders' meeting in March.
Musinsa aims to implement a function where 15 million members can freely buy and sell fashion and accessory products within the app. Additionally, to enhance convenience, it plans to utilize a 'consignment storage sales' format, whereby customers can pack the items they wish to sell into collection bags for collection and merchandising. The retrieved items will also be inspected for contamination and damage.
Musinsa is looking for new business opportunities in terms of the 'circular economy,' which creates added value by increasing the circularity of fashion products. Musinsa had previously offered a second-hand marketplace service that supported transactions of second-hand goods with enhanced security for certified members within the community, ten years ago in 2015. Since the second half of 2023, it has been operating second-hand transaction services through the consumer-to-consumer (C2C) platform 'Sold Out.' Earlier this year, it recruited a leader-level talent responsible for service planning at the online fashion second-hand trading company 'Dottegi Market' as a business manager.
Musinsa is developing a system that supports second-hand transactions of fashion and accessory products from over 15,000 brands, regardless of whether they are listed.
A Musinsa representative noted, "The fashion market sees rapidly changing customer tastes and trends, leading to diverse demand for products. Musinsa members have continually inquired about the introduction of a new second-hand transaction service," and added, "Based on the purchasing experiences and preferred brand data accumulated since the community days over a decade ago, Musinsa Used will provide convenience and reliability."
