The Korea Consumer Agency stated on the 6th that among the consumer consultations received through the National Consumer Center last year, the number related to mobile phone services was the highest.

According to the Consumer Agency, the number of consumer consultations received through the National Consumer Center last year was 28,948, which is a 22.2% increase compared to the previous year (23,694).

By item, mobile phone services had the most consultations at 1,481 cases (5.1%), followed by new type gift certificates at 804 cases (2.8%) and air passenger transport services at 785 cases (2.7%).

Mobile phone services ranked first in consultation numbers for three consecutive years.

Regarding the reasons for applications, cases related to excessive cancellation fees for contract termination accounted for the highest at 361 cases (24.4%).

Following that were complaints about non-fulfillment of contracts (335 cases, 22.6%) where the benefits explained verbally differed from the content in the actual contract, and unfair practices (286 cases, 19.3%) that enroll consumers in paid additional services without their consent.

Consultations related to new type gift certificates increased by 148.9% compared to the previous year, marking the largest increase among all items. Most of these consultations were requests for refunds due to the unresolved payment case of TMON and WeMakePrice that occurred in July last year.

Consultations regarding large passenger vehicles increased from 186 cases to 366 cases, a 96.8% increase, recording the third highest growth rate. The Consumer Agency noted that many consultations were from consumers requesting compensation for vehicles equipped with batteries like those in the electric cars that caught fire last August.
