Convenience store GS25 announced on the 11th that it has opened Vietnam's first "convenience store-pharmacy" shop-in-shop in collaboration with Dongwha Pharm's pharmacy chain in Vietnam.
On the 10th, the two companies opened the "GS25 Binh Duong-Koh Kong Store" in Koh Kong City, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam. The first floor houses the GS25 convenience store and the Dongwha Pharm pharmacy, while the second floor features a tasting area for customers. Various products, including ready-to-eat meals, refrigerated and frozen foods, beverages, and alcohol, are displayed, alongside four pharmacists who provide over 1,500 types of medications and over 600 types of health products.
Vietnam GS25 aims to enhance customer satisfaction by adding professional pharmacist consultation services for medications and healthcare in its convenience stores, while Dongwha Pharm expects to reach more consumers by utilizing the convenience store model.
The two companies plan to open more than 10 additional shop-in-shop locations in major urban areas of Vietnam this year.
For this store, Vietnam GS25 and Dongwha Pharm signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) in January to jointly develop distribution chains for convenience stores and pharmacies and collaborate on sales. They plan to cooperate on ▲ joint development and business expansion of shop-in-shop locations ▲ enhancing brand awareness through marketing collaboration ▲ providing health consulting services by professional pharmacists ▲ and expanding portfolios of medications, health supplements, and beauty products.
GS25 entered Vietnam in January 2018 and currently operates over 350 stores.
Choi Geum-seong, head of GS25 Vietnam, said, "This collaboration will serve as an important stepping stone for GS25 to grow into a comprehensive lifestyle platform beyond just a retail store in Vietnam," adding, "We will solidify our position as the number one convenience store in Vietnam through exceptional product strength and service innovation."
