Celebrity Sung Si-kyung participated in creating the makgeolli brand “Kyungtakju 12 (12% ABV),” which won the grand award in the Korean rice wine category at the 2025 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards. This marks the second consecutive year of winning.
The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is the country’s representative liquor competition, now in its 12th year. Hosted annually by ChosunBiz since 2014, it aims to “discover and promote quality domestic liquors while supporting the formation of a healthy liquor culture.”
This year’s event featured 236 companies showcasing a total of 1,008 brands, making it the largest scale competition handling general liquors in the country. Among these, 431 brands received the grand awards. Of the award-winning products, the 25 brands that received the highest scores in their respective categories were selected for the highest honor, known as “Best of Best 2025.”
Kyungtakju 12 (12% ABV)was selected as the grand award in the traditional Korean rice wine category.
This liquor was created by Sung Si-kyung with the hope that the public would enjoy and resonate with it. It is a high-alcohol makgeolli reaching 12% ABV, maximizing the unique flavor of rice.
The brand Kyung (璄), which produces Kyungtakju, stated that as Kyungtakju 12 garners attention both within and outside the industry, it will enhance its flavor and quality through systematic quality control.
Kyungtakju plans to strengthen marketing and distribution strategies to increase consumer convenience.
Kyungtakju 12 can be purchased on the official site at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays. The brand Kyung is looking forward to releasing Kyungtakju this year.
