Samyang Foods is launching the global brand "MEP" in the Japanese market and is aiming to penetrate the instant soup noodle market.

Samyang Foods announced on the 10th that it will operate a brand booth at the 59th SuperMarket Trade Show, which will be held from the 12th to the 14th at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

At this exhibition, Samyang Foods will introduce the core brand Fried Chicken Noodle Series, along with Fried Chicken snacks, Fried Chicken sauces, and the new instant soup noodle brand "MEP" and pasta brand Tangle.

"MEP" is a globalized version of the instant soup noodle brand "Maptaeng," which Samyang Foods launched domestically in August 2023. The brand has categorized spicy noodles based on various situations into five flavors: spiciness, sharpness, cleanliness, pungency, and subtlety. In the Japanese market, two types will be introduced: black pepper beef noodles and garlic clam noodles.

According to Samyang Foods, the Japanese instant noodle market is approximately 7 trillion won in size, with instant soup noodles making up most of it. While Samyang Foods has primarily focused on Fried Chicken noodles, it plans to target the local instant soup noodle market following the launch of "MEP."

Additionally, Samyang Foods will launch the new pasta product "Garlic Shrimp Pasta" from its Tangle pasta brand, which was introduced last year. This product is based on twosome pasta, incorporating a blend of soft cream sauce and spiciness.

A representative of Samyang Foods noted, "The MEP brand being introduced this time has received high interest from major local distributors such as Don Quijote, AEON, and Life even before its release," adding, "We will develop it as the representative brand of Samyang Foods in the growing spicy instant soup noodle market in Japan."

The SuperMarket Trade Show is Japan's largest food distribution exhibition, attracting around 80,000 visitors annually. This year, approximately 2,200 companies related to food manufacturing, distribution, and equipment are expected to participate.
