On the 10th, Lotte Mart announced that its grocery-specialized Cheonho store ranked first in sales per pyeong among 111 stores nationwide just three weeks after its opening.
Lotte Mart opened the Cheonho store near Cheonho Station in Gangdong District, Seoul, on the 16th of last month, with an area of 4,538 square meters (1,374 pyeong). This marks the first new store opened by Lotte Mart in six years.
The Cheonho store is composed entirely of direct management without tenant space and filled 80% of the store with groceries.
Lotte Mart stated that, from its opening until the 5th, the Cheonho store's sales were more than 70% higher than the average sales of 28 other stores, each with less than 6,600 square meters (around 2,000 pyeong). During the same period, the number of customers at the Cheonho store was noted to be over 60% higher.
At the entrance of the Cheonho store, a 27-meter-long 'long deli road' was installed to display Lotte Mart's ready-to-eat foods, allowing customers to access about 50% more deli products than in regular stores. In the 'Cooking World Buffet' corner, aimed at small quantities and cost-effectiveness, over 60 types of products are offered in the 3,000 to 4,000 won range.
The 'Daily Meal Solution,' a store specialized in frozen convenience foods, sells over 500 products, more than 70% more than in existing stores. The frozen food sales at the Cheonho store rank among the top in Lotte Mart.
The 'Global Cuisine,' a store specialized in substitute meals, features over 700 types of sauces, double the amount available in existing stores. The sauce sales at the Cheonho store are three times the average of Lotte Mart.
The Cheonho store will hold a customer appreciation discount event for one week from the 13th to the 19th, during which they will offer ultra-low prices on strawberries, grade 1+ special eggs, blueberries, cleaned squid, and Korean beef sirloin.
Na Geun-tae, the manager of the Cheonho store, noted, 'The successful establishment of the Cheonho store is due to the effective implementation of a food-specialized store based on thorough market analysis and a highly convenient shopping environment,' adding that 'we will continuously introduce differentiated products and services, prioritizing customer value, to become the leading shopping destination in the Gangdong area.'
