CU, operated by BGF Retail, announced on the 11th that it will launch ‘MatPoli Strawberry Pistachio Cup,’ utilizing a new recipe from the winner of the Netflix cooking competition program ‘Black and White Chef: Cooking Class Warfare,’ Napoli Mafia (Chef Kwon Sung-jun). Previously, on Jan. 13, Chef Kwon appeared on CU’s official YouTube channel CU Tube to release a video showcasing the production of this product.

The newly introduced MatPoli Strawberry Pistachio Cup is a dessert layered with cookies, white milk, pistachio whipped cream, strawberry jam, and fresh strawberries. It features the unique combination of the nuttiness of pistachios and the sweet and tart flavor of strawberries.

CU expects that this product will continue the sold-out craze of the ‘MatPoli Chestnut Tiramisu Cup,’ which has set the fastest and highest sales record on its app Pocket CU since its launch in October. Previously, the chestnut tiramisu cup presented by Chef Kwon sold out an average of 10,000 to 20,000 units within 20 minutes each day during the nine-day pre-order period on Pocket CU. It has ranked first in sales in the refrigerated dessert category to date.

Additionally, on the 17th, a ‘Yonsei Milk Strawberry Pistachio Bread’ will be launched, featuring a pink bread that evokes the image of strawberries, drizzled with sweet strawberry custard and tangy strawberry jam, and filled with pistachio cream.

Kim Go-ni, product planner in BGF Retail’s snack team, noted, “We released a product that uniquely interprets existing convenience store items through collaboration with Chef Kwon,” adding, “CU will strive to become a store where customers can have new experiences through collaboration with various experts in the future.”
