On the 9th, the Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) signed a memorandum of understanding for research cooperation on 'industrial and spatial convergence strategy and national balanced development' with the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade (KIET) at the Daejeon Land and Housing Research Institute. The signing ceremony was attended by Jeong Chang-moo, Director of the LH Land and Housing Research Institute, and Kwon Nam-hoon, Director of KIET.
This agreement was established to support the cultivation of regional strategic industries linked to space and balanced development centered on the 5 mega-regions and 3 special autonomous regions proposed as key government pledges. The government has stated that it will promote the cultivation of regional strategic industries and facilitate regional investments linked to industrial complexes, innovation cities, and free economic zones for the national balanced development among its top 10 pledges.
Through the agreement, the LH Land and Housing Research Institute (LHRI) and Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade (KIET) agreed to cooperate mutually for ▲ developing convergence policies for regional industries and urban and regional projects ▲ supporting national balanced development through attracting corporations and revitalizing industrial complexes.
Following the signing ceremony, a policy forum was held on the topic of 'industrial and spatial convergence strategy.' The forum was organized to discuss various current issues related to ▲ industrial location ▲ regional strategic industries ▲ corporate ecosystems, and to seek ways for integrated regional industrial and spatial policies.
At the forum, Dr. Bae Jin-won from the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade (KIET) presented on 'cooperation measures for diagnosing and enhancing domestic industrial special zones,' while Head of Team Lee Sam-soo from the Land and Housing Research Institute (LHRI) presented on 'measures to activate the relocation of small and medium-sized corporations in the metropolitan area.' The ensuing comprehensive discussion focused on new directions for industrial special zones, corporate relocation, and industrial complex policies, as well as balance development strategies.
Director Jeong stated, "With this agreement, both institutions have established a close research cooperation relationship, and we will strive to discover effective industrial and spatial convergence strategies and proactive policy tasks for national and regional development."
Director Kwon noted, "In the face of overpopulation in the metropolitan area and the disappearance of local areas, both institutions have established a research cooperation system covering industries and space to secure growth momentum and balance development in the region. With this cooperation, we expect to create synergy for policies and research that can contribute practically to national balanced development."
