HDC Hyundai Development Company announced on the 30th that it conducted safety inspections by management in the field to prevent damage from the ongoing predicted heavy rains and heat-related illnesses among workers during the hot summer months.
Earlier, on the 27th, Chief Executive Officer Jeong Kyung-gu and Chief Safety Officer Cho Tae-je visited the Gonjiam Station Central I-Park site, emphasizing the need to enhance workers' safety awareness and prepare for potential hazards in advance. In particular, this year the rainy season has started early, and with scorching heat exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in many areas, the risks of flooding and electrocution on site have increased, as has the frequency of heat-related illnesses, including heat stroke and exhaustion, highlighting the need for inspections.
Jeong Kyung-gu, Chief Executive Officer of HDC Hyundai Development Company, said, "To prevent safety accidents from significant disaster risks during the rainy season and extreme heat, proactive and systematic safety management is necessary," adding, "Safety and health will be managed more rigorously in accordance with the essential safety rules from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and internal policies, making it the top priority on site."
On site, they thoroughly reviewed guidelines for responding to heavy rains and extreme heat and ensured emergency response systems were in place. In preparation for the rainy season, they checked the status of drainage facilities such as drainage channels, sedimentation basins, and collection wells; inspected hazard zones due to soil erosion and protective measures; examined and reinforced vulnerable facilities like scaffolding and falling object prevention nets; monitored adjacent river water levels and confirmed emergency communication systems; and checked the waterproofing and insulation of electrical equipment and electric machinery. To prevent heat-related illnesses among workers during extreme heat, they also ensured compliance with rest times and inspected facilities for shade and breaks.
Meanwhile, HDC Hyundai Development Company has proactively strengthened its management system to prevent health hazards among workers by launching the 'Icicle Campaign' this month to prevent heat-related illnesses during extreme heat, and continues activities to enhance worker safety and eliminate accident risks.
