HDC Hyundai Development Company announced on the 26th that it will present the design for the Songpa Hanyang 2nd Reconstruction Project in collaboration with the world-renowned architectural design group SMPD (Sarver McLaughlin Design Planning).
This is intended to expand the 'world-class partnership' that recently drove success through collaboration with global partners at the Yongsan Maintenance Depot Zone 1 to the Songpa area.
The Songpa Hanyang 2nd project must secure distinctive exterior design and urban symbolism that differentiate it from nearby ongoing reconstruction and remodeling sites, in addition to its proximity to the Jamsil central area. HDC Hyundai Development Company plans to present a 'developer-type design strategy' reflecting these locational characteristics and market trends, rather than simple construction.
Based in Chicago, USA, SMPD is a global design firm specialized in high-rise architecture and urban mixed-use development design. It has carried out projects such as 'Acro Seoul Forest,' 'Nine One Hanam,' 'Samsung C&T Raemian One Bailey,' and 'The H Yeouido First,' which have established themselves as landmarks in Seoul.
For the Yongsan Maintenance Depot Zone 1 project, key personnel from SMPD conducted close design cooperation by visiting the site directly a year and a half before the bid announcement. The proposed 330m skyline community, 360-degree view features, maximized Han River view layout, and application of high-quality finishing materials received overwhelming support from the union members.
HDC Hyundai Development Company plans to apply these successful cases to the Songpa Hanyang 2nd project. It intends to combine SMPD's innovative design philosophy and global design capabilities with HDC Hyundai Development Company's comprehensive development strategy that encompasses planning, development, and operation.
