On 18th, chairman Jeong paid a courtesy call to President Daniel Chapo in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. In this meeting, Jeong emphasized that "Daewoo E&C is a representative construction company of Korea, equipped with experience and technology through approximately 280 projects worth a total of $32 billion since its first foray into Africa in 1977," adding that, "Based on its experience contributing to the economic development of African countries through projects such as the Botswana-Zambia Kazungula Bridge and the Ethiopia highway, Daewoo E&C hopes to contribute to Mozambique's leap to become a global natural gas exporter and achieve remarkable economic growth."

During the courtesy call, Jeong requested cooperation for the smooth progress of the previously contracted LNG plant project and also requested interest and support for the LNG project bids that are under pursuit.

President Daniel Chapo noted that "Mozambique is entering a significant period of change as it marks its 50th independence anniversary, and I hope there will be considerable interest in various development projects by Daewoo E&C, not only in the LNG business but also in new city development and tourism development projects," promising active support.

Mozambique is regarded as a leading country in Africa with substantial natural gas reserves that can supply the world for about 16 years, possessing abundant water resources and natural gas and mineral resources, and is assessed to have high growth potential. Daewoo E&C signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for gas development-related projects with Mozambique National Oil and Gas Company (ENH, Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos) on June 16th.
