TAEYOUNG E&C Consortium was selected as the qualified bidder for the 'Gwangmyeong Umyeonsan Urban Expressway Relocation (Underground) Construction' ordered by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), the company announced on the 16th.
In this project, TAEYOUNG E&C will serve as the lead contractor with a 35% equity stake. Daewoo E&C (25%), KCC E&C (12%), Dowon E&C (8%), Youngjin General Construction (4%), SIS Dental (4%), GI (4%), ES Industry (4%), and Geumdo Construction (4%) will participate in the consortium. The design will be jointly undertaken by Yooshin and Kyungdong Engineering, among others.
The total project cost is 610.5 billion won, and it will be implemented over a total length of 3.04 km from Makgye-dong in Gwacheon to Juam-dong. Key construction features include one underground passage (2.84 km), two pedestrian overpasses, two noise barriers, and interchanges (IC) and intersections.
The TAEYOUNG E&C Consortium proposed improvements to the elevated roadway into an underground passage, environmentally friendly vegetation-type noise barriers, a multi-purpose gateway pedestrian overpass with media glass, and smart construction technology in this bid.
TAEYOUNG E&C has consecutively secured public projects using a technology-based bidding method, including the 'Cheongju Multipurpose Indoor Gymnasium' in March, 'Dongtan 11th Bridge and two others' in May, and 'Gwangmyeong Umyeonsan Urban Expressway Relocation Construction' in June, proving its outstanding technical skills and stable construction capabilities despite the real estate market slump.
A TAEYOUNG E&C official said, 'We will contribute to enhancing regional value by creating facilities that satisfy not only road users but also all citizens of Gwacheon through responsible construction and thorough quality management.'
