Samsung C&T's construction division has been certified for a new construction technology specialized in vertical expansion remodeling of apartment buildings.

Samsung C&T announced on the 12th that it has successfully developed the 'automated control type pile foundation method,' becoming the first in the country to receive certification as a construction new technology (No. 1023) from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The pile foundation method involves adding auxiliary piles in addition to the existing installed piles and applying pressure to reinforce the building's foundation.

In vertical expansion remodeling, careful examination of the loads transmitted to the existing piles and the additional reinforcement piles is a crucial factor in ensuring the safety of the structure. However, until now, pile construction using the automated control method has been difficult to apply due to the limitations of manual control, making it challenging to simultaneously apply pressure to all reinforcement piles.

The automated control technology for piles, jointly developed by Samsung C&T and Korea Engineering, enables the even distribution of loads applied to the piles using automated control devices, allowing for simultaneous management of all reinforcement piles. Real-time monitoring of all control processes also allows for the quantitative analysis of data regarding the forces transmitted to the piles.

This technology has succeeded in obtaining official certification as a construction new technology after being certified by the geotechnical society last year.

Applying this technology in vertical expansion remodeling can ensure high quality and improve work efficiency. Moreover, the review period for safety due to the increased reliability of the construction can be shortened, enabling faster project progress.

Lee Jong-seop, a professor at Korea University who is responsible for technology validation at the geotechnical society, said, 'This automated control type pile foundation method is an excellent technology that improves the overall pile management system and increases the reliability of the piles, and it will be a key technology in solving the technical challenges of vertical expansion remodeling.'

Park In-sook, head of the remodeling team at Samsung C&T (executive director), said, 'Demand in the remodeling market for urban regeneration is expected to gradually increase in the future,' and added, 'We will continue to secure foundational technologies that ensure safety, quality, and economic feasibility to lead innovation in the remodeling market.'
